Funny how I get the nudge to post around the time that Bruce leaves his message in your box...There's "A Beautiful Mind" joke in there, But. On To the message at hand... A long long time ago When Billboard was my Bible and Music was My Religion (all in a very naïve, innocent and somewhat wonderfully idealistic way), I was having a pre Anthem Hockey Night in Thornhill Game chat with one of the “Seven” (Coolest humans I have had the pleasure of spending time with), Val A. when the talk turned somewhat serious. “I need a place to showcase Larry, not so huge that he’ll get lost, but a place Big enough for him.” This was WAY before Garth Brooks topped the Billboard Top 100 and Bar Codes were still the subtle gestures that buddies would share in sizing up that evenings prey...oops! Bad Spillane tangent Alert!!! I had been a Styx fan of “Equinox” lineage, aware of “Lady” but not truly landed until Jeff O. said those immortal adolescent words, “You Gotta Listen to This, Man! Almost immediately after the needle of his prized “Thornes” turntable met the pristine almost virgin jet black A%26M vinyl, Lorelei got me. Shortly there after I went to see Styx open for Bad Co. at the MLG Concert Bowl, I decided whether I was a Styx fan or a member of the other lobby, everyone else in the world who hated Styx. Back to you now Larry… As a member of the former camp, Billboard kept me up on all the music news the labels wanted me to know. At that Time Damn Yankees were on tour with The Kinks and Dennis De Yonge (insiders Toronto Joke) was on also on tour promoting his first solo release. And ya know what? Dennis was at Massey Hall the same night The Kinks were at the Gardens! WOW two ex-Styx in the same town on the same night. Could possibly be the Vortex where an amicable Styxian reunion might take place? Geez to prospect of Styx making up for the worst, most disappointing and pathetic concert finally of the Mr Roboto tour, well it was an opportunity that NEVER CAME TO PASS! Why, ask Tommy Larry. . . Tommy “ We never played Toronto with The Kinks” Nope, never happened, Damn Yankees weren’t coming into Canada with the Kinks, and knowing that The Kinks had little reservations of who opened for them as their roadies and themselves in costume and opened for them previously, …(to Val I said) “The Kinks have no opener for their Canadian Leg, it’s perfect for Larry” And with that, the coolness Of Val swept across the stillness of Southern Ontario, calls were made and Lawrence Gowan Played for the first time ever at Maple Leaf Gardens! The second time He (you) lived a other dream playing at MLG, finally with sticks, During Donut Hockey Afternoon In Canada! And now Look At You! Mister Keyboard Player in Styx! Or Did Val tell you the story behind the story?
Hope you’re doing great, Aren’t The Beatle Remasters AMAZING! I had to listen to the Mono first because In Stereo There was TOO MUCH AMAZING NEW STUFF TO COMREHEND AT ONCE!!! Maybe someday we’ll chat about it, you’re One of five people that I can talk to about the Beatles. Sad thing is the fifth is my computer. OH Apple announced that The John Lennon Solo material has been restored by the same team that worked on the Fabs’! Release later this year. Now if only mix out all of Phil Spectors’ re-verb! Still I have misgivings about Terry, I was in the wrong and I am Sorry.

I wanted to let you know how you have influenced other artists. My nephew, Jason Orton, is the lead singer for a band called "Conflicted". They play mostly metal, but have been known to add in many genres of music. When Jason was a young teen in Aurora, Ontario, he went to see you (around 1985). He has been pursueing music ever since. When I have seen him on stage - I see a lot of your influence there.
His band "Conflicted" just won at the Toronot Independent Music Awards on July 23rd - in the Metal category! They are also currently working on an album under an American label. Jason also writes alot of his own music. Thank you so much.

Not sure if you even visit here anymore as I have only seen you on facebook lately, and no more little messages have been posted by you on this wonderful site.

Just wanted to let you know that I went down memory lane on July 5, 2010 to Gage Park in Hamilton where "All the Lovers in the World" was filmed, and I climbed up on the stage just to see what it's like, lol!

On August 10th it will have been 20 years since I first met you here in Barrie in person for the first time - so long ago!

Hi I was just wondering if you were ever going to do a concert in CT. I love your music and can't find anywhere down here and it is getting harder to find in Canada, I go up every couple months. Mohegan Sun or Foxwoods would be nice close to Boston and NY.

Hi Mr.Gowan, I'm writting to inform you that one of your former stage and lighting crew that used to help you out in Ottawa back in the late 70's early 80's Robert Noel has been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. The doctors are not sure how long he has to live they estimate 2 weeks at best. Anyways as his son and hearing your name come up in family conversations and the fun times he said he had doing the setup and the madness of the running around during your performances here in Ottawa I just thought I'd let you know.
P.S Loved the show at last years Bluesfest.

You will probably remember my mom...she was the librarian at St. B's....She passed away in 2008 from cancer. You were such a cute kid, full of laughter, fun and a devilish twinkle in your eye, but most of all I remember you as a kind and caring person and super smart! Just wanted you to know that you touched my life when we met in the library all those years ago and I've never forgotten the sweet boy that is you. All the very best to you Larry.

My husband and I attended the concert at Fallsview Casino on May 8th. What an amazing time we had! My husband and I have enjoyed many of your concerts in Belleville,(since 1985 I believe) and Casinorama. Last year - outdoors with Styx in Belleville, was also amazing! Hope to see you again soon! I was there and experienced the remarkable show at Fallsview in Niagara Falls on May 8th! The band was phenomenal! Was so good to see Terry playing his Blow-Out Bass up there with you again! Todd did an astounding job on precussion! The pace on "Awake the Giant", what can I say, but that it shook the foundations! "Walking on Your Own Ground" definally got the fans up and dancing. You were the Task-master that night, and once again demonstrated your Showmanship to the fullest! Thanks for such a great night and for sharing such good times!

I have been listening to your music for about as long as you have been performing. I have also had the pleasure of meeting you a few times and getting your autograph.I hope you will do more solo concerts because i would love to see and hear you again. Just can't get enough. Hi Larry! I saw you on Friday, May 7 at Fallsview Casino. It just happened to be my birthday and I couldn't have asked for a better present! The last time I saw you was about 11 years ago in the football field at Nelson highschool in my home town (Burlington) with Burton Cummings. I was lucky enough to speak with you and get your greatest hits CD autographed. I will be watching your tour dates to see when you come around again! You looked incredible and sounded even better! What's your secret!? I loved that you added that little dash of red to the front of your hair ;-) I've been a huge fan since the 80s and am very proud of your success. I'm 37 now and still play all your albums over and over. Amazing music performance as "always" at the Fallsview Casino in Niagara Falls. My first time seeing you perform was at a local bar in Thorold, Ontario at Front 54, my sister and I were so impressed and enspired by your music and to this day your voice is still as powerful. I was wondering if you would have any words of wisdom for my daughter who is 13 and has been taking voice lessons for sometime. Waiting to see another concert of yours soon I hope!

I was at a concert back in 1985 where you were the opening act for Supertramp in St. Johns Newfoundland... I was 20, it was my first concert. I instantly became a Huge GOWAN fan so did the rest of the audience as we called for the encore of the opening act. I was so excited, to now 25 years later be given such a wonderful gift (from you indirectly) and from my friends who gave me the ticket...to the concert on May 7th at fallsview for my birthday! You brought me back to the first time I heard you sing live and I really felt 20 again. Until maybe I caught my reflection in the glass as I walked out of the fallsview hotel and out into the rain. I just wanted to say Thank you. Thank you for the many songs that spoke to my soul, inspired and entertained me as I listened to the casettes, CD's and now my MP3... you are still and always will be "on my play list".

I have tickets for tonight's concert at the NG Casino; I don't think I've ever been so excited to go to a concert! My brother turned me on to LG's music a few years back; I immediately drove up to Toronto to see if I could buy all the CDs or cassettes, but was so disappointed to find that the guy in the store hadn't even HEARD of you! Nothing was available in the States, but I have since then bought some over the internet. I love you and your music, Mr. Gowan; you'll recognize me tonight because I'll be the one screaming the loudest!!!!

Man I lost track of Gowan many many years ago. I remember you back in the Rhinegold days at a local bar here in Welland Ontario, I loved the shows and the music and would love to get some of it again, I had some on tape Dr Starlight and the Watchmaker and a few others, I have since lost that tape.
I hear you will be at the casino in Niagara Falls this weekend and would love to see the show and meet you again but its out of my budget for this month.

I have grown up with Gowan music my whole life. When ever my family would take that 2 hour drive to the cottage my sister and I were prepared to sing all of our favorite Gowan Songs! We were so upset that he was only playing one show in Canada at the Casino! Does anyone know if he will be playing back in to Toronto (GTA) area again?

My ex wife's daughter is at Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto and has always been a big fan of yours. I have been myself and saw you perform a number of times when I lived in Toronto in the 80's. Amy is dying from leukemia and pneumonia and is sedated with morphine to ease the pain. I am hoping that you could take a couple hours out of your time and visit her and maybe sing a couple of your hit songs from the glory years. Please let me know if you would consider this and I can send you more info.

The show was amazing! When Lawrence grabbed my hand i felt like i was the only person there. I was so ready to go around back and get a picture with him, but after waiting for an hour behind the building the styx tour bus starts backing up and the HOB staff cleared the way. No pictures, autographs or even a wave from LG or the band. I was crushed, heartbroken. I really hope I will fulfill my dream of meeting Lawrence, but I dont think I will ever be as close as i was last night.

The STRANGE ANIMAL returns ~ OMINOUS ~ SPIRITUS. Time flies. Keep it strange for the next 25!

When I was younger I was able to go to 17 of Larry's concerts in the Toronto area. I missed the Styx concert a few years ago, in Scotland, by a few days (I just couldn't extend my trip to accomidate it) and now I will miss being in Niagara Falls for his performance in May 2010 by a few weeks. Is there any chance of a Gowan performance in the Vancouver area? Please!!!
